Support Janiece Chastain's Liver Transplant Journey

Our mom, Janiece Chastain, has been in and out of the hospital this past year with liver complications. Ultimately, the doctors have decided she needed to be placed on an emergency transplant list. She is currently on the list and is awaiting the call any day to have the transplant surgery done.

*Post-surgery, our mom will need to stay in Seattle for a month and a half, with two caretakers assisting her—her two daughters (Jasmine and Rebecca). Jasmine will need to take that period of time off work, as will Rebecca, which will be a financial strain on both households.

*Our mom will need to be on lifelong medications, costing hundreds of dollars each month, to keep her liver functioning.

*We have been informed that our mom's insurance will not cover or pay for some of the tests the doctors ordered because they weren't deemed necessary, and she is now liable to pay for them.

*Our sister Leslie had a brain tumor at the age of five, which left her disabled. Our mom and sister Rebecca have been her full-time caretakers. With our mom needing surgery and Rebecca assisting in her recovery, arrangements will need to be made for Leslie's care, and there is a financial need to cover the cost of her care.
