Janie Erickson, our dear friend and family member, had brain surgery on September 10th, 2024 to remove a large cavernous malformation on her brain stem.

Over a year later, Janie still remains on a ventilator and she still has a feeding tube. Although she has made good progress, she is still fighting hard to get off the ventilator. Janie initially was in St Luke's ICU in Boise for 15 days, then transferred to Vibra Critical Care Hospital in Boise to work on weaning off the ventilator and to continue with physical and occupational therapy. While there, Janie battled pneumonia, edema, infections, and fevers. Her husband, Jade, was by her side 24 hours a day. Son Jett, Janie's mom Lois, and her childhood friend Tammy all stayed in Boise to help. Tammy and Janie were able to communicate using sign language that they learned together as young girls, and this was a lifeline for Janie to be able to express herself. Janie was at Vibra Hospital until March 31, 2025. She was then transported via ambulance to Cascades at Riverwalk in Midvale, Utah where she is currently staying. It has been a very long and hard chapter for this sweet family. They are all tireless in their efforts to help Janie with her recovery. Jade is now back to work at the City of Sun Valley and commutes to Utah on the weekends. Lois spends each week with Janie and drives back to Twin Falls for a weekend when she can. Jett visits from California whenever he can. There are so many wonderful friends, neighbors and co-workers who are quietly and steadfastly keeping the fires burning for the Ericksons. This would not be possible without you! The Ericksons feel bottomless gratitude to all of you wonderful, kind souls who have helped them with their struggles to carry on each day. Janie still has a long road ahead, but she is determined to return to their home in Bellevue someday. She is very determined, courageous and brave, as are that strong family who have not left her side!
