Support Janiah's Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Hi my name is Mari Acevedo. I would like to help my sister Yazmin, and my niece Janiah (J) in raising money to help with their recent unexpected medical expenses. In hard times like these we could always be of service by showing our support; whether it's by lifting them in prayer, a phone call, a quick text message, a warm meal, monetary donations, or simply sharing this post to help it get as much publicity as possible. Hopefully, by doing so, we could allow Yazmin and J to focus on what is really important, and that is her recovery.

J is a very bright young 14yr old teenager who's an honor roll student in her freshman year of highschool. Aside from being naturally smart, J enjoys gaming, swimming and spending time with her family. She is a fun-loving kid who's a total dare-devil and takes on any challenge with the ambition of always winning. Her athleticism has always allowed her to be well versed when it comes to being a leader and team player in any game she plays. She's an athlete who plays center on her basketball team, flag football leisurely, and excels not only physically but mentally with anything she sets her mind to. She is my sister's only daughter; and needless to say, we are so privileged to have her in our family and watch her blossom into the young woman she's becoming.

On Monday 8/12, J was brought to the emergency room and thankfully later admitted for observation with a diagnosis of Pneumonia. I say thankfully because God must've known where He needed them to be considering her health soon began to decline, and more test were needing to be ordered. During the two days J was complaining of headaches, then became extremely restless, and woke up Wednesday incoherent. We were later told J had encephalitis (swelling of the brain) but unaware of how she got it. J was then transferred to another hospital to be monitored closely by more pediatric specialist, and placed in PICU (pediatric intensive care unit) for several days.

While I am thankful to share she is out of the intensive care unit, she still has a very long way to go. Along with treatment for the encephalitis, J is currently working with physical therapy to help regain her strength. For those of you who are wanting to help we ask to donate what you can, or help by sharing her story. No one should ever have to endure the stress of wondering how they're going to pay for all of these medical bills while recovering and healing.
