Support Janet's Battle with Brain Cancer
Donation protected
I wish our family were starting 2025 planning our personal goals and celebrating a new and exciting year together. The unfortunate reality is that my mother, Janet, has received a diagnosis of a very aggressive form of brain cancer. With only a month of time to process this, she endured a 12 hour brain surgery which did remove the tumor, but resulted in worsening side effects which include her motor functioning ability to balance herself safely, and extreme speech aphasia. Although the tumor was fully removed, the cancer cells remain and will grow back. She will be enduring 9 months of chemotherapy and radiation which will be just another addition to her physical pain.
With this diagnosis being recognized just a few weeks ago, myself and my brother do not currently have appropriate funding to manage the medical bills that come with this. Including intensive surgeries, travel expenses, multiple doctor’s appointments, medications, chemo and radiation, multiple ambulance rides and week long stays in the hospital as well as an acute rehabilitation center.
While we are happy that our mom was able to come home from rehab this week, this will require myself and my brother to take significant time off from our jobs. She requires 24 hour care until we figure out a long term solution that is affordable to the standard of care she needs and deserves. This is our main concern and biggest reason for asking for money as some of these services are covered by insurance but many are not, and most that are covered include a waitlist so long that we will not be able to upkeep our own bills before being approved. We are asking for support from our loved ones in this very stressful time to help pay for some of these medical bills and expenses because we have no other option for caring for her at this time aside from a nursing home, which would come at additional cost as well.
We are all under significant financial and emotional burden as we navigate insurance/social programs to the best of our ability. We just want the best care possible for our mom while we do so. We could use any prayers and thoughts for successful chemo and radiation treatment. And any donations for surgery costs, medical bills, travel and food costs would be helpful.
