Hello,
I'm helping 2 unhoused ladies named Janet and Mario to seek shelter from the cold and safety elements in the city of San Gabriel, CA.
They have been engaged with various agencies from LACMH and their referral and services, but the issue with housing/shelters are: 1) They have a severe disability and allergies; if they consume unknown/incompatible food, they become very ill and need an epidural injection in a life or death situation. They have been turned away many times because the agencies and shelters can't provide adequate accommodation.
They have not been able to find any agencies that can provide housing, safety, and food to accommodate their allergies/issues.
The only path so far has been local residents driving by offering motel shelters during extreme cold (below 40 degrees) and heavy rain as they are “sheltering” beneath and on the bus seat.
This fund would help them to get proper funding to be housed/safe so they can try to find local assistance and give more time for our community and government to address and assist.
They have been waiting and surviving for about 8 months. Not sure how, but their will to live and thrive in adversity is very strong.
