Official fundraiser for Janet and Lincoln Alwood

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of Andy’s unexpected passing. Janet and Lincoln are navigating unimaginable grief and heartbreak during this profoundly difficult time.

Unfortunately, along with this devastating emotional loss, the family is also facing serious financial hardship. Due to circumstances that arose prior to Andy's passing, Janet finds herself unable to take much-needed bereavement leave. The financial pressures are urgent and substantial, adding additional stress to an already overwhelming situation.
Many friends and community members have kindly asked how they can help. We have set up this fundraiser to ease the immediate financial burden so Janet and Lincoln can focus on grieving, healing, and supporting each other through this incredibly painful time.

In Andy’s memory, we have also included resources below for anyone who may be struggling with thoughts of despair or hopelessness. Please reach out—help and hope are available.

From Lincoln:
On Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025, my father, Andy Alwood, passed away unexpectedly. He was an inspiration to me and everyone around him. His heart was bigger than anyone else I know. He lit up every room that he entered. In the years leading up to his death, my father served as the assistant principal at Lutz K-8, which is where I went to school for most of my childhood. He left a profound and positive impact on the staff, students, and families of the school. He also was a basketball coach, a teacher, a star basketball player, and a loving husband and son throughout his life.

He treated strangers like friends and friends like family, making sure nobody felt left out and everyone had someone they could feel comfortable around.
He changed many people's lives for the better and continues to inspire others to do the right thing as a beloved member of the community. He would have loved to see me graduate, go to college, be a grandfather and father-in-law, and see me be successful in life. However, time and other factors outside of our control take the people we love most away from us. Make sure you spend time with your loved ones as much as can, because you never know when your last moment will be them.

He was a dedicated FSU and Buccaneers fan, an amazing mentor to others, and the best father I could ever ask for. I will never forget everything he did with/for me, taught me, and opened my mind to. I miss you Big Guy.

Safe travels Pops and fly high
