Support Janel's Recovery from Major Surgery

Hi, I’m Zoe, a close friend of Janel’s, and I’m reaching out to share her story and ask for your support. For the past two months, Janel has been in and out of the hospital battling complicated diverticulitis, a painful and serious condition that has left her fighting for her health. After being hospitalized three times and enduring multiple rounds of antibiotics, she was recently told that she needs to have a foot of her large intestine removed. This surgery will require an eight-week recovery period where Janel won’t be able to work or lift more than five pounds. As you can imagine, this creates a huge financial strain on someone who is used to being active and contributing to her community in so many ways. Though Janel has health insurance that should help cover the surgery (pending confirmation), she’s still facing the reality of needing assistance with her rent, utilities, and other living expenses during this difficult time.
