Jane Novak - our dear loved one was diagnosed with breast cancer on January 14 that has already spread into other parts of her body.
In her own words....
"I prayed that I would have better news to share with you all but sadly I do not. I received a call from my doctor last night with the results of my PETscan. I already knew he was going to share bad news. The cancer has spread to the lymph nodes and to my bones. Mostly in my neck/back and ribs. It has already fractured one vertebrae and encompasses another. I was admitted to Butterworth last night and remain here until they tell me to go home! If I just start chemo, the tumors would dissolve but leave nothing in it’s place. Therefore, as far as I know right now, I will be having surgery tomorrow to have rods placed in my neck. After a 4-6 week recovery period, I will begin chemo and possible radiation (for the tumor on my ribs). This is now stage 4 and I will have to receive treatments for the rest of my life along with prayer, to keep the cancer at bay. Spiritually, I will not lie, this is the hardest thing I’ve had to deal with. But at the same time, the outpouring of love, support, and prayers from all of you have been most uplifting moment of my life! Please continue to pray that the cancer does not spread to the spinal column which would then travel to my brain - worst case scenario."
The surgery to place rods in Jane's neck was successful and she is now recovering at home before beginning the next phases of treatment targeted against the cancer itself.
Jane and her husband Josh are the parents of two wonderful young boys and this diagnosis has turned their world upside down and severely strained their financial resources. With medical expenses and time spent in care away from work, they could use all of the financial support we as a community can offer.
So many of you have reached out to Jane to offer her support and encouragement. Please consider helping financially as Jane and Josh adjust to a new calling with new challenges in mind, body, and spirit.
Thank you for your kind words, prayers, and support!
