Hello everyone,

As some of you may know, I was selected to participate in the JET program this year on a one-year contract as an ALT (Assistant Language Teacher), and I am incredibly excited to be given this amazing opportunity after applying twice. I have spent the last few months preparing for the move, but recently I've hit a financial bump.

Due to unforeseen circumstances  I am now underfunded for my move and may not be able to afford the move-in expenses that I am expected to pay upon arrival in Japan. I have sold most of my things and have accepted to work overtime throughout June. I have now even considered dropping out of the program entirely due to the financial stress that I am in. With only a month left before departure, I cannot do much more on my own to gain the funds necessary for moving.

I am asking for your assistance in helping fund my move to Akita, Japan. I am sad to consider dropping out of the JET program after I've worked so hard to get to where I am now and I would be incredibly grateful if you could help me achieve this.

I've wanted to participate in the JET program for over 8 years and I know that this is a huge opportunity not only for me, but also for my son and for the growth of my career. I've missed many opportunities throughout the years because I was told I could not pursue them as a single mom. Things such as studying abroad and taking on jobs that require traveling. The JET program is something that I have worked hard to get into and I would love it if I could experience this with your help.
