Our sister Jana is beginning treatment for breast cancer, and we created this page to help ease the financial burden so she can focus on healing.

Jana has always been someone who shows up for others with warmth, kindness, and a listening ear. As a self-employed hairstylist, she has spent years connecting with people and building meaningful relationships within her community. Many of the people who sit in her chair have become friends, and the relationships she has built mean the world to her.

Recently, Jana was diagnosed with breast cancer. While the cancer was caught early, her treatment plan will include chemotherapy followed by a bilateral mastectomy. This means several months of treatment and recovery ahead as she focuses on healing and getting back to her normal life.

Jana is facing this journey with the love and support of her husband and their sons, who are standing beside her every step of the way.

Because Jana is self-employed, her work requires her to be physically present behind the chair. She plans to continue working whenever she is able during treatment, but there will be weeks — especially during chemotherapy and recovery from surgery — when working simply won’t be possible. This will mean a significant loss of income over the coming months, in addition to the medical expenses that come with cancer treatment, surgery, medications, and recovery.

If you know Jana, you know she is strong, independent, and not someone who would normally ask for help. As her sisters, we wanted to create a way for friends, family, clients, and anyone who cares about her to support her during this difficult season so she can focus on her health and healing.
