Support Janae's Recovery: New Heart & Kidney

Hello Everyone!!! My name is Janae and I am 30 years old. What some of you may not know is that in 2019 I was diagnosed with kidney failure which then affected my heart. My heart was functioning at 20% and below! Doctors believe this happened as a result from complications with preeclampsia during my pregnancy in 2017. Shortly after I gave birth, I was naive and thought hey I'm no longer pregnant so I no longer have high blood pressure. That was not the case and I went two years without managing my blood pressure until it took a toll on my body. Fast forward I began dialysis, taking medication to support my heart, even got a defibrillator put in. This was my life over the next 5 years, it was challenging but it's what I had to do! Towards the end of 2023, I went through evaluation for transplant, which was a long tedious process but I got through it and fortunately I was listed! I was on the transplant list maybe less than a year and a half. On January 27,2025 as I was leaving out to take my son to school and head to work I got the call that they found a match! I was speechless and emotions were all over the place. I had to immediately head to the hospital. On January 29, 2025 was when I had two life changing surgeries, first the heart transplant which took about 6-7 hours and then the kidney transplant shortly after which was about 2-3 hours. I spent 3 weeks in the hospital and each day I made good progress. Now I am home to continue my recovery and begin my new journey. I am forever blessed and grateful that I was given a second chance!
