update 4/13
Chris was supposed to start a at hospice care facility , recommended by his physicians, however he was still wanting to be proactive and is motivated to continue to fight and live as long as he can, so he was not very interested in switching to hospice care. His kidneys and blood have stabilized and he is back at his friend’s house. He has not been able to make it to several doctor’s appointments due to not having funds for a ride there. I am grateful for any contribution, donations would be greatly appreciated so he is able to get to and from these appointments and to pay for the medications he requires. I am happy that he still has the mindset to keep fighting and want him to keep trying and not be limited in getting to appointments/help due to lack of funds.

*UPDATE*
Chris has now been placed on hospice. We are working with staff to find him a closer location so I can easily travel to see him. This will require the daily expense of an Uber. As a mother, I want and need to be with my son as much as possible in these challenging weeks ahead. We would appreciate any travel support for me to be with my son as much as possible in these next few weeks. Thank you from the bottom of this mother's heart.

*UPDATE*
an up date on my son Christopher he remains in pallative care an requires frequent blood transfusions I am still providing uber transportation and prescriptions as needed. The doctor is trying to get him to a point where they can preform to determine where the cancer is. This process will take time I am amazed Ana so very great full the donations we have received, it restores my faith in humanity

Hello my name is Jan and I am seventy-eight years old residing at Beo Senior Living in Chattanooga, TN. I am a retired nurse practitioner now living on limited income of social security and my pension. Three years ago, I moved into this supportive community not realizing how my finances would take an even larger strain and how the staff would support my son's unexpected illness.

In 2025, my son, Chris, was diagnosed with mononucleosis and went into septic shock upon hospitalization. Thankfully he survived, but was unable to care for himself medically and financially for many months. The community I live in surrounded our family allowing Chris to move into our building which provided access to physical, occupational, and speech therapy as well as his primary care physician being able to attend to his needs in-house.

As a trained nurse practitioner and a mother, I was able to care for my son's daily living activities as best I could. As Chris was unable to work, I also assumed full financial responsibility. I not only had my healthcare costs, but his as well along with both of our apartment and community fees. So grateful that I was able to provide in this emergency, but it drained my savings as to why my limited income each month relying solely upon social security and my pension. Upon recovery, Chris was able to resume his occupation and provide for himself.

Unfortunately, this past month, Chris has had another unforeseen medical emergency. He is currently hospitalized in kidney failure, weekly dialysis, and now Stage 4 cancer of the kidney. Fortunately, I was able to add him to my medical insurance, but with my limited funds, we are now at a loss how to survive financially through this current medical crisis. My greatest fear is to not be able to afford even cremation for Chris if his health fails even more.

I lost my only other child, my son, Kevin, in 2020, and am frightened of the grim prognosis of this current situation. If I have to lose my only surviving relative, I am praying for financial assistance to help me take care of him once again, keep my home here at Beo of Chattanooga, and if I have to- bury another son with dignity. As a prideful woman who has worked her entire life, I am asking for financial assistance as I take care of my son once again. Our family, my only family, greatly appreciates your act of kindness.
