My dear friend Jan needs our help. She has had a very tough several years. Jan was the sole caretaker to her husband (Johnny) with Alzheimer’s, who fell at home and never returned. He was recovering well at a rehab facility where he was suddenly found unresponsive. He died, leaving her no life insurance or savings.
Jan was kind enough to adopt two kittens from a stray litter I found in the bushes last year. Since then, her existing senior kitty has been saddled with a lot of health issues, including an autoimmune disorder, kidney issues, and now heart problems.
Just when we thought things were getting better, Jan’s home was burglarized (during the day!) and all of her heirloom jewelry was stolen; many items that belonged to her mother and her late husband, including their wedding rings. They broke glass panes that now need repair and ransacked the whole house. She plans to install security measures as well, which is also costly.
This is a tremendous amount to carry for a 70+ year old woman who now has to work more than ever to make ends meet. We know this won’t replace the sentimental items, but it will give Jan some help to cover additional unexpected expenses at this very challenging time. Thank you for anything you can spare!
