Support Jamie’s Training at Yale

Hello family and friends!

So excited to share the awesome news that I’ve been accepted by the Yale Divinity School and its Youth Ministry Leadership program starting this fall 2025!

With the support of my church (St. Andrews Church, UK) and my wife Charlie, I’m hoping to finish this program online while juggling work as a youth pastor here, and parenting our two little girls Olivia (3) and Poppy (2).

As rigorous and challenging this highly competitive program is, I intend to do coursework and the meetings in the evenings of every week of the two semesters.

My call to youth ministry, you might know, began in the Philippines, while I was a law student, where I later served in Union Church of Manila for 4 years. Some time later, I answered the call to serve as a missionary in Colorado then Texas, then a Youth Pastor in California for a total of 11 years in America. Since 2023, I’ve been blessed to lead a group in a church here in the south west of England.

My desire to sharpen my skills, get grounded in biblical scholarship and be culturally responsive, has been growing over the years and during this season of my life, this online program has been the best fit! I applied this last spring with the support of my supervisor and mentors, who also kindly provided me references helping me get an offer for this program!

Whether leading small groups, organising retreats, or simply being present with a youth as they work through their faith, I’ve seen firsthand how vital it is for youth pastor to be theologically sharp, emotionally wise, and culturally responsive. I believe Yale’s program will sharpen my understanding of adolescent development, expand my pastoral set of tools, and better equip me to create spaces where young people encounter God in transformative ways.

With that, I am hoping to raise the funds from my family and friends who have supported me over years if you’d be willing to prayerfully consider supporting my further studies. As a pastor, my income doesn’t currently allow investing in my education beyond supporting my young family. I’m also a firm believer in depending on the Lord for provision through the generosity of His people!
