Support Jamie’s Fight Against Adrenocortical Carcinoma

Donation protected
I am organizing this fundraiser for my cousin Jamie Nobis in support of her fight against Adrenocortical Carcinoma.

In February 2024, Jamie’s world changed unexpectedly. What started as a visit to urgent care for abdominal pain led to an ER trip, where scans revealed a massive tumor occupying much of her right abdominal cavity. Three weeks later, she underwent surgery at UW Madison Hospital to remove an 18 cm, 3.5-pound adrenal tumor. While most adrenal tumors are benign, Jamie’s was cancerous—Adrenocortical Carcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. Further imaging and biopsy confirmed she was already at Stage 4, with cancerous masses in her lungs, lymph nodes, and abdominal cavity.

Determined to fight, Jamie immediately began chemotherapy combined with Mitotane, a drug that targets adrenal cells. In June 2024, she consulted with Dr. Gary Hammer, one of the country’s top adrenal cancer specialists at the University of Michigan. Despite multiple rounds of chemotherapy, imaging showed continued disease progression. Hoping for a better response, she began immunotherapy infusions with Pembrolizumab while continuing Mitotane. Unfortunately, scans showed that the cancer was still advancing.

In August, her treatment plan changed again, switching to Atezolizumab, another immunotherapy infusion drug, still combined with Mitotane. By late 2024, as her pain levels increased significantly, she began working with a palliative care team for pain management. Radiation therapy was introduced with the goal of providing pain relief, but unfortunately, it was not successful. In November, she started her fourth treatment approach—Atezolizumab combined with Cabometyx, an oral immunotherapy tablet. At this stage, Mitotane was discontinued. After months of progression, a scan in December 2024 finally showed a mixed response, offering a much-needed glimmer of hope.

Through it all, Jamie has continued to work as much as she can, but managing disease symptoms, treatment side effects, and frequent medical appointments often prevents her from reaching 40 hours a week. While she remains dedicated to providing for her six-year-old son, Rowan, who is the light of her life, the unpredictability of her health makes full-time work incredibly challenging.

Jamie is now exploring additional treatments, including Vitamin C infusions, which have shown promise in enhancing chemotherapy and immunotherapy effectiveness, as well as the Ivermectin Fenbendazole protocol, which she is using alongside her current immunotherapy treatment. Unfortunately, neither of these treatments are covered by insurance, and with the possibility of twice-weekly infusions and ongoing care, the financial burden continues to grow.

Jamie has faced every challenge with strength, determination, and grace, but the rising out-of-pocket medical expenses due to alternative treatments and daily living costs are an increasing challenge. We are asking for your support—whether through donations, sharing this fundraiser, or keeping Jamie, Rowan, and her fiance Akira, and their family in your thoughts and prayers. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference in her fight.

Thank you for your love and support. May God bless you.
