Support Jamie's Eye Surgery for a Pain-Free Life

My name is Bianca Green and I am raising funds for the left eye enucleation (removal) of our beloved neighborhood cat, 'Jamie', who also is known around the streets as 'Oreo' and 'Batman'.

If you have been in or around our neighborhood in Hyde Park, Tampa, FL, or to our house, you have seen, met or maybe even fed 'Jamie'. He has been around since I moved into my home eight years ago and is a staple of the neighborhood.

I have been feeding Jamie, twice a day, for the last eight years and he even sometimes goes on walks with us and our dog. He is a street smart guy who is one of the smartest cats I've known.

Recently, he showed up with what looked like a swollen/infected/cloudy and all white left eye. After taking him to the vet (yes - I've taken him a few times for his rabies vaccines too), he was diagnosed with advanced glaucoma.

We still don't know why it started, but what we do know is that his eye pressure is very high (in the 70-80s when it should be in the teens/low 20s) and he also has severe inflammation and pain in and around his left eye.

Per the vet, I have started him on a two times a day regimen of 4 different prescription eye drops, an anti-inflammatory and an antibiotic. So far, none of these medications are helping to relieve the pressure in his eye. Therefore, there is a big risk of his left eye rupturing. The next best thing would be to remove his left eye to relieve him of the pain he is currently enduring as well as any further complications with that eye.

I am hoping to raise funds for this surgery as it is in the $2400-$2700 range. I have already spent approximately $675 of my own money in vet visits and prescriptions to figure out the best path forward for his comfort and care.

I have included the estimate for his eye removal and I also have his medical vet records for review, if necessary. If we get to move forward with his eye removal, I will most likely keep him inside, in my office, during his healing time. Whether he's ready to take on the neighborhood again with one eye or if he transitions to a permanent home is still to be determined. While he loves to visit us daily inside and outside our home, I know he also loves his freedom of being able to roam our neighborhood streets.

I hope you will consider donating any amount to his surgery. He is such a special guy. Thank you for reading and caring about our favorite neighborhood kitty, 'Jamie' the cat.
