Support Jamie's Alzheimer's Journey

Donation protected
Hi everyone I am Dani, Jamie's daughter. I am currently needing some help with funding for my mom's continued care as she progresses though Alzheimer's.After starting hospice in care June there have been some improvements. She has her good days and bad days. She may even be on track to graduate when her review is due in a few months!

My mom Jamie was a flight attendant for United for 47 years until she retired in 2019. In 2021 at the age of 71 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's . This was something both her mother and grandmother had. In October of 2024 she fell and broke her right hip while she was out sweeping our front porch. I had been at work that day after working my 2 jobs. I checked my doorbell camera as my intuition told me to and found her laying there with the door mat as a blanket. Alarmed I asked what she was doing and her response was "I am going to bed". Seeing as I was 45 minutes away, I had to call a neighborhood friend that help her inside. I proceded to b-line it home while calling an ambulance. I arrived maybe 5 minutes after they did. She was unable to tell us what happened and how she fell. Later at the hospital, I was able to get that she might have fallen or tripped over the raised flower beds we have. I did not have the motion activation on for the camera as it was almost dead. How I wish I had actual answers to what happened. In truth, I still have little idea of what actually happened. She seems to think something happened to her foot and not her hip. Memory loss is a crazy thing.

From the hospital she was sent to rehab as I work trying to support both myself and her. While she was in rehab, I realized that I no longer have the capability to take care of her and all of her daily needs. From rehab, she was placed into a 24/7 assisted living house with 6 other residents as she was still in a wheelchair and walker situation. She has now recovered from her injury but her Alzheimer's has progressed exponentially. Coming to live at home is unfortunately not a safe environment for her and I am working 2 jobs.

Recently, she has begun to wander and often heads toward the front door, which has become a concern for both the staff and myself. They are unable to take their eyes off her for long before she attempts to make her way there. We are unfortunately having to pay for extra one on one care for a few hours a day, while I seek a new place for her to thrive and live where the doors are able to be locked. A memory care home is what I am seeking to help give her the best living conditions under these circumstances.

Unfortunately, Jamie doesn't have 401k with little to no savings. What we did have was used when she was transitioned into her current care home in November. We were not expecting her to ever need to be moved. With her needing to move to a new memory care location and already needing to pay for the extra one on one care we come up short as this was a very unexpected turn of events. I am hoping to raise this money to help cover the community fees associated with moving to a new memory care home for her and to help with the current added on, one on one care costs until she moves. Everything will go to her directly and used for her continued care as she progresses though Alzheimer's.
