Our family is asking for help after a devastating rollover accident involving my mom’s partner of 7 years, Adam. Adam suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and is currently on life support while doctors and our family prepare for the next steps in honoring his wishes as an organ donor.

Adam was someone I called Dad, and he was the best bonus dad I could have ever asked for. He loved our family deeply and showed it in the little things every single day. Unless they were working, my mom and Adam spent nearly every moment together whether it was camping, taking road trips, bringing their dogs to the dog park, or simply enjoying each other’s company. They truly did life side by side, and it has been a very long time since either of them had to experience life without the other there.

Adam was the kind of person who always showed up. He was the guy helping when someone was stranded on the side of the road, the man making sure my mom always had fresh flowers, and the person who spoiled their fur babies with gourmet treats and endless love. He brought comfort, stability, humor, and kindness into the lives of everyone around him. He was the person that always made me realize that life doesn’t have to be so serious.

My mom and Adam shared a home, expenses, responsibilities, and a life together. Years ago when they first got together, they made the decision not to legally marry because Adam was diabetic and my mom did not want to risk being left with overwhelming medical or financial burdens if something ever happened to him young. Because of that decision, my mom will not receive any life insurance benefits despite losing the person she built her entire life around which is why I’ve started this GoFundMe.

My mom works full time and is not someone who likes asking for help, but this loss is unimaginable. My siblings and I are doing everything we can to stay by her side and keep her company while she tries to process the reality of a life she never imagined living without her best friend beside her.

We are asking for help so my mom can take time away from her full time work to grieve without the immediate fear of falling behind financially after suddenly losing half of her household support. Donations will help cover living expenses, bills, groceries, care for their dogs, and give her the time and space to process this tragedy surrounded by family.
