Hey friends and family! Thank you for taking a few minutes out of your day to read this. I am Ellie and have been working at esp for 5 summers now! Throughout my time here, Ja’michael has been a dear friend of mine. Seeing him light up at camp and experience the magic is the coolest thing to see. This past week he got to come to camp and had the best time ever! Below you’ll see all the photos of him!

When I was dropping him back off from camp one day his dad began to open up about their need for a wheelchair van. You see Ja’michaels wheelchair doesn’t fit in his car, so this is the first time this summer Ja’michael has gotten out of the house because unless transportation is provided he can’t leave. A wheelchair van would change their lives for the better and allow Ja’michael to go out to eat on a random weekday or go grocery shopping with his dad. Routine things we all take for granted that would change Ja’michael’s life! If you know anything about Ja’michael it’s that he’s a social butterfly and loves hanging with his friends and meeting new people. I always know he’s right beside me because if I’m talking to someone else as I’ll feel his hand reach out and grab mine to let me know he’s there. He deserves to get out and be more social! I ask you to help us make it happen, by donating what you can right here to a wheelchair van. All donations will go straight to his dad to purchase the van! Through the generous support of the community, we have been able to get Jamichael a van and are working to get it registered, insured, and fully serviced. His dad, Michael Byrd is good friends with Chip Chandler and has asked Chip to manage the funds so everything gets paid for and put towards the right cause. We are so appreciative of the support of the community and Jamichael and his family are so grateful for the way everyone came together to support his wheelchair van journey.
