Jami Deva is facing a painful and complicated recovery after a family vacation in Florida turned into a medical emergency. While boogie boarding with his 9-year-old son, JJ, a freak wave tossed him and snapped his right tibia.

This injury is especially complicated because more than 20 years ago, Jami suffered a serious accident that broke both his legs in multiple places. Because of that history, he needed surgery and new hardware after this recent fracture. He is now in extreme pain and must remain non-weight bearing for the next 2 to 3 months.

What was supposed to be family time with his 80-something parents, wife and son has now become an extended stay in Florida for at least another month or two. Their entire family is displaced, and life has been put on hold while they focus on getting through this recovery.
