My name is Connie, and I’m asking for help for my brother, James, who is 64 and living with stage 4 prostate cancer.
By the time James was diagnosed, the cancer had already spread to his bones and affected his spine, leaving him unable to walk. It has since spread to other organs. Today, he and his wife are facing an urgent financial crisis that is preventing him from getting the medication and medical care he needs.
About a month ago, James lost his private health insurance. He has applied for Medicaid, but a problem involving his former insurance is delaying access to coverage. While they work to resolve it, his medical needs cannot wait.
One of his prescribed cancer medications alone costs approximately $1,000 for a 30-day supply, and he needs several other medications as well. He has been unable to afford his prescribed medicines for about a month and has run out of pain medication.
James and his wife live on a small monthly Social Security income. Their savings have been exhausted by previous medical copayments, leaving them unable to pay for his prescriptions and ongoing care out of pocket.
We are raising money to help pay for:
• Prescribed cancer medications and pain medication.
• Medical appointments, tests, and treatment.
• Other necessary medical expenses while his insurance situation is being resolved.
As his sister, I want to help ease this burden so James can focus on his care and spend time with the family who loves him. I will also be offering some of my handmade crochet blankets through fundraising auctions to help with his medical expenses.
If you are able to donate, any amount will help us work toward covering these costs. If you cannot give, please share this fundraiser with your friends, family, and community.
We will share updates about James’s needs and how the funds are helping, while respecting his privacy.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping our family support James during this difficult time.
With gratitude,
Connie and James’s family
