Just a few days ago, 33-year-old James was admitted to the hospital, where he received a diagnosis that changed everything—diastolic heart failure. His heart is currently struggling to keep his body from being overloaded with fluid, which has caused dangerously high blood pressure that doctors are struggling to control, even with five different medications. He has a long and uncertain road ahead of him, and right now, even the simplest tasks—breathing comfortably, resting, and standing—are difficult.
Because his body is working so hard to manage the fluid overload, James has now gone into stage 3 kidney failure. His kidneys are under tremendous strain, and this new diagnosis has made his condition even more serious. He has a long and uncertain road ahead of him, with multiple organs affected and a recovery process that will require continued treatment and monitoring.
This already devastating diagnosis comes with a heavy financial burden. James does not have medical insurance until January 1st, leaving his family facing what will be massive hospital bills and treatment costs. On top of this, he is the primary breadwinner in his home. His hospitalization means no income for his family during a time when they need support more than ever.
His fiancée has been by his side every day, doing everything she can to balance caring for James, managing hospital updates, and meeting the needs of their children—all while facing the fear and uncertainty that comes with a serious heart condition.
This family is strong. They are hopeful. They are doing everything in their power to hold things together during the most difficult time of their lives. But right now, they cannot do it alone.
We are asking for support—no matter the amount—to help this family with:
• Mounting medical bills
• Household and living expenses
• Transportation costs
• The income lost while James remains hospitalized
Every donation will help ease the financial strain and allow his fiancée to focus on what matters most: supporting James through his recovery and ensuring their children feel safe and cared for.
If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Kindness, prayers, and positive thoughts also mean the world to this family.
Thank you for taking the time to read their story. Thank you for offering hope during a time when hope is desperately needed.
Update on James condition:
Tests showed that James had serious blockages in several of the blood vessels that supply his heart. To get a better look, doctors performed a procedure where they insert a small tube into the heart to check blood flow. This confirmed that three major arteries were severely blocked—one at 80%, one almost completely blocked at 99%, and another at 90%.
Doctors were able to place two stents to open two of the blocked arteries and restore blood flow to his heart. A third artery is still 90% blocked, and James will need another procedure in a few weeks to place a third stent. This delay is to give his heart time to recover before doing more.
The dye used during these heart procedures has put extra strain on his kidneys, and right now they are not working well enough for him to safely go home. To give his kidneys time to recover, doctors have temporarily stopped two of his medications that helps remove excess fluid from his body.
So far, James has lost over 22 liters of excess fluid, but there is still some fluid remaining. Once his kidneys improve, he will be able to restart those medications and continue healing.
Unfortunately, this means James will be spending Christmas in the hospital, away from his kids and family.
We are incredibly grateful for the prayers, donations, and support. We continue to take this journey one day at a time and truly appreciate everyone standing with us during this difficult season.
