James (JJ/Jay/KC) is one of those people who has always shown up — for his family, for his children, for anyone who needed him. He’s a hardworking provider, a devoted father and grandfather, and a cornerstone of his community. For a long time, he’s been fighting a battle with heart failure, pushing through multiple procedures, tests, and hospital visits — and that fight has now brought him to the next chapter: open-heart surgery.

We’re creating this page to invite our community into this season of James’ life as he prepares for surgery and the long recovery journey ahead.

In the coming weeks, Betzy, his wife, will be stepping into the role of his full-time caregiver — and with that, temporarily stepping away from work. They’re leaning on faith, each other, and the people around them to carry them through.
