Support Jameson Whelan After A Tragic Football Injury
Donation protected
On Thursday, September 5th, Jameson suffered an injury during his JV football game, resulting in a loss of sensation and complete paralysis from the neck down. He was promptly transported to Chandler Regional Hospital, where he underwent a series of tests, including a CT scan and three MRI scans. In the early morning hours, his body was responding slightly to painful stimuli. He was then transferred to the ICU for further testing. They struggled to maintain his blood pressure and perfusion of his spinal cord. However, each day he gained a little sensation and mobility. They performed a mylogram in the ICU and were able to look closer at his spine. By Saturday, he had regained sufficient strength to stand, albeit relying solely on his arms for support. After a long 96hrs, he was released on Monday evening with a long road of recovery ahead of him. He is unable to walk without the use of a walker. He is going to physical therapy, and we are hopeful that with time and God's grace, Jameson will be able to make a full recovery. Jameson is very active in all aspects of a 15yo; school, sports, church, and his 3 siblings. We are grateful for the outpouring of support and acknowledge the road to full recovery will be lengthy, but we remain optimistic.
