My name is James White, and I serve as a Worship Pastor in Florida. My wife, Jackie, and I are walking through one of the hardest seasons of our lives.

What Happened

On September 1st, I had a serious accident at home that changed everything — I fell from a ladder and shattered my heel.

Since then, I’ve been in constant pain, attending countless doctor visits, and working only limited office hours because I have to keep my foot elevated. We’ve been doing everything possible to find a way to afford the urgent, invasive surgery I now need.

This procedure will repair my heel, restore my mobility, and allow me to walk again — but it comes with a significant financial burden.

The Financial Challenge

Initially, I was told the hospital cost would be $23,000, not including the surgeon or anesthesiologist. However, just before my original surgery date of September 30th, I found out the quote was incorrect — the true cost for the procedure was actually $97,000, not including the surgeon or anesthesiologist.

We’ve always been blessed with good health and never expected such a fluke accident. Unfortunately, I’m currently without insurance, and as a self-pay patient, that amount was simply impossible. I had to cancel the surgery and begin searching for another solution.

After weeks of phone calls and prayer, my doctor found another surgical facility where he can safely perform the procedure at a much lower rate — approximately $40,000, including the surgical facility, surgeon, and anesthesiologist.

Additionally, I’ll need about $5,000 for 3–4 months of physical therapy during recovery, and each doctor’s visit is $125.

Altogether, the total cost is between $40,000 and $45,000, assuming there are no major complications. All upfront costs must be paid by November 10th, so surgery can take place on Tuesday, November 11th. Because this is a private facility, full payment is required before surgery, and no payment plans are available.
