James Turner’s Eagle Project
My name is James Turner and I am a Life Scout in Troop 777, West Hills California. My Eagle Scout project is to sponsor a Dog Adoption Day specifically for families of children with special needs. This project is special to me because I am a person with Autism. I have an emotional support dog named Bear. He helps me calm down when I am anxious and is a very important part of my life. I want other children with special needs to be able to have a dog like Bear that can really make a difference in their lives.
I am working with a non-profit organization called Pups Without Borders. This organization will identify dogs with characteristics helpful to become emotional support animals and provide these special dogs for adoption at my Dog Adoption Day. The event will be held at the Kirk O’ the Valley Presbyterian Church in Reseda, California. A Dog trainer will be available to talk to families about training for emotional support dogs and service dogs. We will be assembling dog adoption kits to give to each family that adopts a dog. We will also be making dog treats.
Funds collected will be used to purchase supplies needed for the dog adoption kits as well as to help pay for the fees for each dog adopted. Any additional funds raised will be donated to the Pups Without Borders organization. Thank you for considering supporting my Eagle Project.
