I am a professional cook, and until recently, I had a good job that allowed me to support myself. Everything changed when I got sick and was diagnosed with a clot in my artery. Because of this, I am unable to continue working, and my doctors have put me on heavy medication and pulled me out of work for my health and safety.

I've now been out of work for a couple of months, and the bills at home are piling up. I am behind on my rent and utilities, and I’ve applied for food stamps and unemployment, but the process is slow. I’ve been told it could be up to three months before I see any assistance, and right now, I am struggling to make ends meet. The holidays are especially hard, and I’m doing my best to stay hopeful.
