These are the words of my father, my hero.
First of all, I want to give praise to The Most High for the many blessings, grace, and mercy shown every minute of the hour. Second, I want to say hello and thank you for checking out my fundraiser. My name is James Siler, and I am a 69-year-old retired minister and army veteran residing outside the small town of Quitman, Georgia, with my lovely wife of 47 beautiful years, Janice. For the majority of my adult life, I have been ministering the word of The Lord to my people, and I thank Him for using me. So I definitely have that unwavering faith that my prayers will be heard, and that my miracle will happen.
Here is a little more about my situation. I have been a type II diabetic for years, struggling with fluctuating blood sugars, expensive medications, and peripheral neuropathy. I have always been on my feet, helping others however I can, and sometimes my own health sat on the back burner. Even today, I am an elderly caregiver and sitter because I just can’t stop helping those that need it the most. Needless to say, my battle with diabetes has not been the best as it has almost cost me my legs. Peripheral neuropathy and declining peripheral vascular health have wreaked havoc on my lower extremities. My neurologist and orthopedic doctor are suggesting Peripheral Nerve Stimulation as a last resort to see if this therapy can restore and rejuvenate the nerves in my feet and legs. Without this treatment, I have been told and fear that the next course of treatment would be amputation. With the cost of this treatment exceeding $40,000, this is a very expensive procedure. For those without insurance, this would be a huge financial burden. Some insurances do cover generous portions, but your out-of-pocket portion often ends up being thousands of dollars. I am so very blessed to only have an out-of-pocket cost of $8,500. With both of our limited incomes, this still proves to be a big financial burden for us.
I have faith that love is the answer! There are still so many of us that have giving hearts that live and love to pay it forward. I am so grateful, thankful, humbled, and blessed for your support and simple kindness for even taking the time to read my story. Any monetary gift, no matter the amount, would mean absolutely everything to me and my family. Please share this fundraiser with your friends, family, and if at all possible, please consider making a donation to help me through another tour of duty, only this time with my recovery. I thank you with my whole heart. God bless you.
