My name is James French. I’m currently in a six-week in-resident program at Warriors Heart in Bandera, TX, working to recovery. After 14 years on active duty in the Air Force as a Munitions Journeyman, and several deployments, I was diagnosed with PTSD, along with other mental health diagnosis's and turned to unhealthy ways to cope. I was medically retired in 2019.
My service dog, Charles Bronson, has been by my side every step of the way—alerting me to panic attacks, waking me from nightmares, and helping with hyper alertness. He’s been a lifeline during my toughest moments. Now, due to his own medical issues, his watch is coming to an end, and it’s time for him to retire and enjoy life as a regular dog.
While in treatment, I have the chance to train a new service dog through Warriors Heart. Training a service dog personally guided by a certified trainer will help me regain independence, manage my symptoms, and continue my healing journey. This is a crucial step for my recovery and future. I’m reaching out for support from anyone who believes in second chances. Your help will make a real difference in my recovery and my ability to move forward with hope and a brighter future.
