Hi, everyone,
I'm reaching out to you with a heavy heart to ask for your help for my dear friend James "Neil" Ragland. At just 49 years old, Neil has been diagnosed with stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma of the anus, which has metastasized to the liver. He is a wonderful person who has always been there for others, but now he needs our support more than ever.
Neil is originally from Owensboro, KY, but has been living in Atlanta, GA, since the fall of 1999. He and a friend started the Southeastern chapter of CMA (Crystal Meth Anonymous) and held the first-ever meeting of this group at the Galano Club in Atlanta. This group has improved the lives of so many individuals in the Southeast. Additionally, James was a youth leader at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church from 1999 to 2010, positively impacting many young lives.
Recently, Neil also suffered a pulmonary embolism, Tumor Fever , nausea, and fatigue adding to his health struggles. He is currently unable to work and is not receiving disability benefits. The financial burden of his housing, cancer treatment, food, and daily medical supplies has become overwhelming. Moreover, Neil needs a new critical cancer treatment called focused ultrasound to save his life that his insurance will not cover. We are hoping to raise funds to help cover these essential costs and ensure Neil can focus on his fight against this terrible disease.
Here is a photo of Neil with his loyal companion, Skip, taken at St. Joseph's Hospital in November 2024:
Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in Neil's life. Your generosity will help provide him with the care and support he needs during this challenging time.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and support.
With gratitude,
