Support James' Dream to Attend Westmont College
Donation protected
Hi, my name is James and I'm fundraising to help pay for my freshman year at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA. I received $50,000 in scholarships for my first year, and $7,500 in student loans. That leaves about $13,000 remaining for my first year. I have been working at Chick-fil-A since December 2023, while finishing my high school education a year early. I have been diligently saving my income for my college education, while also giving my tithe at church.
I want to double major in data analytics and computer science, so that I can become an NBA data analyst. I have a special gift for math, and I am very interested in basketball, so this would be my dream job, being able to combine my two favorite things together. I am valedictorian of my graduating class, have a 4.33 weighted GPA, and scored a 1530 on the SAT.
Background: When I was very young, about 2 years old, I was diagnosed with autism. During this time, it was very difficult for my parents to figure out how to communicate with me and help me get better. We started our own fundraiser to be able to go to the Autism Treatment Center of America. This started us down the path for life-changing development. I eventually was able to communicate clearly my wants and needs to my parents despite my disability, was able to adapt to my environment around me despite major changes, and began to find my own place in the world. It's mind-blowing to see where I came from and where I am going to be in a short 17-year span, and that I am about to attend the highest-ranked Christian college on the West Coast.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story! Any donation you make is much appreciated, because every little bit helps! I am so thankful for the opportunity that I have to go to such a great college. I am looking forward to my bright future!
