There is now a spaghetti benefit going to happen this upcoming Sunday 3/8
Update: so things have not gone well and they have said theres no brain activity with James. So now the family is going to need more help than ever so please donate and if you already have please consider re donating in this heartbreaking time.
I'm setting up this GoFundMe for my co-worker, James Doughty. James is a loving husband and a caring father of three lovely children, with their newest addition being only 1 month old.
In December, James was having problems with his leg and found out he had a large blood clot in his leg. He had surgery for that and was out of work for over a month. That surgery didn't come without complications, though. He dealt with an infection while still coming to work to pay the daily and hospital bills.
Then, enter into the world their newest addition. Everything seemed to be going on the right track until Sunday night (2/22/26) when James was experiencing shortness of breath, fever, and thinking possibly a-fib, and went to the emergency room. While getting checked into the ER, he lost some vision in his right eye. While there, they found more clots when he shouldn't have been having clots because of the medication he was on and how his levels were reading. So they didn't know what else to do but to transfer him to Presby when a bed opened up.
They had him wait until last night (Thursday 2/26) when he complained about a headache, and they found blood on his brain, put him on a ventilator, and life-flighted him. There at Presby, they did a risky skull surgery because of his clotting disorder to relieve the pressure in his brain, and he made it through that. But while in there, they found two brain aneurysms and also took those out. They also found a clot on his heart and can't do anything with it as of right now because of the surgery he just went through and needs his body to recoup from that.
There's a long road ahead of James getting better, and the last thing this man needs to worry about is how they are going to pay the old and now new medical bills and just the day-to-day bills. Let's try and take some burden off of the family and raise up some money so they can focus on James's health and raising their children.
