Support Jamal's Recovery & His Puppy Montana's Survival

Im going to start by saying Im usually the one doing for others do to me being a empath. Im not use to it being the other way around but I’m going to go out on a limb and try something new. To be honest just by me making this page was a big step for me because I'm usually, the giver and helping other people. Just because I genuinely want to see them do great. This Is definitely a different experience for me. I'm really not use to asking anyone for anything.

Hello, my name is Jamal D Melvin. I was involved in a bad accident on Friday June 7, 2024. Located 3250 Pennsylvania Ave. SE, Washington, DC 20020. I was on my scooter on my way home on my way literally eight minutes away while I waited for the light to cross the street it changed for the pedestrians to walk as I got nearly got on the side where I was going that’s when I was struck by someone driving a truck going over 60 miles+ per hour. I still had the right of way seeing as though I was the pedestrian and the signal still showed a walk signal when I was hit my front was literally on the the side walk she had enough time to slow down but chose to speed up on me and that when I got hit. But worst part is after hitting me as I'm on the ground in agonizing pain she was blaming me profusely. Claiming the accident was my fault instead of showing me compassionate and empathy and thats what really hurt the most to be honest. Before the impact I tensed up and closed my eyes and I heard the impact of the truck hitting me which was very traumatic. When I was hit I was sent flying into the air I heard the impact of my body getting hit by the truck next thing I know I’m on the ground with both of my legs shattered I broke seven bones in my right leg, including my femur and both of my pelvises along with both of my ankles it was a very traumatizing event and also life-changing now that I know I have to live my life differently then I did before. It is very difficult to process. I'm very grateful for the loving caring doctors that Ive received and are help me heal through this. I feel they are angels in disguise. Due to the lost of blood during surgery I had to get blood transfusions which if I didn't get I would had died during surgery aswell. I had five different doctors tell me I was not supposed to survive this catastrophic accident but God showed his real power and proved them wrong. They are just the helpers but he is the one whose in control of every situation Im in and has the final say. I’m just asking for anyone who can support me and help to please do so it would be greatly appreciated I also have a puppy named Montana who I adopted through HRA Rescue Society he's my emotional support dog due to my disabilities, he keeps me happy and makes my life worth living and since I dont know how long I'll be in the hospital and Ill be out of work I need help with his expenses as well as my medical expenses. I have him in veterinary care but it can be very expensive so if there is anything you anyone can donate that would be very helpful I want to thank you all so much for your support I love you all and send much gratitude for the support and everything, please keep me in your prayers I thank God that Im still here because as I mentioned doctors said I was suppose to be in a box. my emotional support dog is in a crisis as well so a donation to my go fund me would be very appreciated and since Im in the hospital I dont have the expenses to cover him while Im in the here. I dont how long Im going to be in here due to this catastrophic accident. The main reason I’m putting out my story is to save lives. I’m well aware of another story of a man who was on a scooter as well but it was a hir and run and he was dragged under the car the same week while I’m in the hospital, one of my family members told me about a man that was hit the same week as I was he was on the scooter, but the car hit him and dragged him under the car. They never stopped for him. It was a hit-and-run, but unfortunately, he passed his due to his injuries. I just want to send out my condolences to his family and aswell as my blessings, love and light because I know how hard this can be be on the family. To you know because he was somebody’s son and I was not supposed to survive this accident, I’m just very fortunate and I’m blessed. I got hit, but I’m lucky enough that God choose to know bring me through this situation alive, so I feel like it’s my job to also spread the word and keep people aware of how dangerous riding these scooters can be. I don’t want to see anybody hurt and not only that two people got hit in the same spot where I got hit but the unfortunately they passed due to injuries from from their incidents. I wanted to get the story out there because i’m aware of how popular scooters are becoming in the city. But lets not forget that DC is ranked one of the worse driving city's in the world and most of the time the accidents come from the out of out of towners. So you have to really be aware and keep your head on a swivel because it of are unfamiliar with how to drive in the city and some of them get frustrated and upset at how people drive in the city and this is what the outcome is a injured bystander. I want something to be done about the crossing so no one else loses their life like I almost or die like I almost did. Evidently something needs to be done about this crossing because people are losing it lives behind this it and it’s not fair. I’m not in my best shape, but I’m in good spirits because I have faith in God I walk by faith not by sight God is good to me and I want show others how real he is and how much power he has when you’re walking in his faith and will. I just wanted to spread the word and get people aware about how dangerous riding these scooters can be and to show how real God is by sharing my testimony. Im definitely blessed and highly favored I survived by the grace of God he was definitely with me and God was on my side and he pulled me through and I’m forever indebted and thankful I have no choice but to live for God after this.
