My little brother Jamal "I got you" Allen has had our backs for years. Now he is facing the fight of his life, and I'm asking you to have his back in whatever way you can.

As many of you know, Jamal is in urgent need of both a kidney and full heart transplant—a rare and very complex medical situation that his medical team here in New Mexico has explained requires immediate and ongoing care from one of the nation’s top transplant centers. Jamal and I will be traveling to the transplant evaluation program at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City in October, a critical step toward getting the lifesaving procedures he needs.

To pursue this treatment, Jamal must stay in close proximity to the hospital for evaluations, treatment, and recovery. He’ll be living with our amazing family on Long Island, but the cost of travel, lodging when he needs to be in the city, and day-to-day living expenses—especially while he is unable to work—is pretty overwhelming.

Jamal has always been light and love for those in his circle—whether through his food, his music, his humor, or just the strength, support, and love he shows his family and friends. Now, he really needs our help.
