Support Jamaican Communities After Hurricane Melissa

Hello everyone,
We are the Jamaican Students Association (JSA) at Cornell University, a registered student organization based in Ithaca, New York (USA). Our members come from across the island of Jamaica and the Caribbean, and many of us have family, friends, and hometowns directly impacted by Hurricane Melissa.
Why We’re Raising Funds
The hurricane caused severe flooding and property damage across several parishes in Jamaica. Entire communities have been displaced, and many families have lost access to food, clean water, and shelter. Our goal is to provide immediate and transparent support for those affected.
How Funds Will Be Used
All money raised will be used solely for humanitarian relief in Jamaica, including:
Purchasing food, water, and hygiene kits for affected households
Providing temporary shelter materials (tarps, lumber, bedding)
Supplying clothing and school materials for children displaced by the storm
Donating directly to verified nonprofit partners such as the Jamaica Red Cross and Food for the Poor Jamaica
Funds will be collected by our organization and transferred directly to these established relief partners. Updates, donation receipts, and progress will be shared publicly through our official Instagram page: @jsa_cornell.
Our Relationship to the Cause
As Jamaican students studying abroad, this cause is deeply personal. Many of our members’ families and communities were directly affected by Hurricane Melissa, and this campaign is our way of giving back and helping with recovery efforts.
Thank you for standing in solidarity with the people of Jamaica and helping us rebuild stronger.
