Early Monday morning, our niece Jalyssa was attacked by a dog while she was sleeping at a friend’s house. She was rushed to Akron Children’s Hospital, where doctors had to perform emergency surgery to repair severe lacerations to her face.
Jalyssa is 13 years old and an 8th-grade student at Cloverleaf. Because of the extent of her injuries, she may need four to five additional surgeries to help repair her scars. She will also require in-home schooling until she is healed enough to safely return to school.
Jalyssa is an active, bright young girl who loves being part of her school band, but due to the injuries to her face, she is currently unable to play her clarinet. This has been incredibly hard on her emotionally, in addition to the physical pain and long recovery ahead.
Between mounting medical bills, ongoing treatments, and frequent travel to Akron Children’s Hospital, this is a financial burden on the family. Any donation—no matter the amount—will help support Jalyssa and her family during this long road to recovery.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing. Thank you so much for your kindness, prayers, and support.
All donations will go directly to her Grandmother (her legal guardian)
