Hello everyone! My name is Jaliyah. I’m an 11 grade straight A IB student. I'm beyond excited to share that I've been awarded an amazing opportunity to study abroad. My school presented us with the chance to apply for the CIEE Summer Abroad program, which provides a unique chance to gain knowledge in your future college major and even earn college credits.

I'm thrilled to share that I've been accepted into the Spanish Language & Culture program in Barcelona, Spain! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me to immerse myself in the language, culture, food, and gain invaluable perspectives and skills. I'm grateful to have received a scholarship to cover half of the tuition, but I still need to cover the remaining balance.

This brings me to why I'm here. Being the daughter of a single mother, I've seen her go above and beyond to support me in all my endeavors. However, financial constraints have made it tough for her to cover the additional expenses that come with pursuing this opportunity. She's been my pillar of strength, providing me the foundation and stability that has allowed me to thrive. Especially when I took the leap of faith to skip a grade and tackle the challenging courses of the International Baccalaureate Program (IB).
