The daughter of James and Tianna Murphy. Ja'layah has an older sister and brother. Ja'layah is in 2nd grade and attends a local public school in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ja'layah loves going to school, where her teachers and classmates really miss her being there. We especially miss seeing her smiles each day. You see, in September 2024, Ja’layah life began to change. Her body began to show a shift with stomach aches, unexplained weight loss, and multiple doctor visits, thinking that she was having a serious case of constipation. Tianna and James prayed as they always have as a family and asked for God's help on what to do next. Finally, Ja'layah thanks to her pediatrician referred her parents to take her to Riley Children's Hospital. No one imagined after all of the testing completed and days waiting for the results would they hear the “C” word: solid tumor cancer in little Ja'layah stomach. Try explaining that to a 7 11am¹-year-old, that her whole life is about to start on a whole new, yet unknown journey. Not only for her but for her parents and siblings. It was only just a few weeks before the landlord gave them 30 days' notice to move because the property was being sold. Mounting bills, first and last month's rent, and now Tianna and James have to take off work to be with their daughter for emergency visits due to fevers, stomach aches, or chemotherapy.

This family can use some extra help, and you, the companionable, caring person you are, can look deep in your heart and help relieve some of this family's heaviness in this trying season.
