Jakub, my 16-year-old son, has always been full of life and energy. A few months ago, he began battling on and off fevers that just wouldn’t go away. At first, I tried to manage his symptoms at home, but when I noticed his lymph nodes were swollen, we went to the ER. The doctors ran every test imaginable—RSV, COVID, influenza, mono, strep—but everything came back negative. They thought it might be a bacterial infection and sent him home with antibiotics and steroids, suspecting an abscess under his lymph nodes.
Despite the treatment, Jakub’s lymph node only grew larger and his fevers returned. That’s when we went to Methodist Children’s Hospital, where a CT scan with contrast revealed the diagnosis we never expected: Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Since then, Jakub has started chemotherapy and radiation. He’s been tired, emotional, and in pain, and his spirits have been low. His sisters , his Dad and I are doing everything we can to care for him and keep him comfortable during this incredibly tough time.
The financial burden of Jakub’s treatment is overwhelming. The funds raised here will help us cover hospital bills that insurance won’t pay, the high cost of his medications, and our living expenses if I need to take more time off work once my leave runs out. His Dad will also be traveling from Florida every chance he gets to help out. We are deeply grateful to our family and friends who have already shown so much support. It’s not easy for me to ask for help, but I know this journey will be difficult both emotionally and financially. Please, any donation is appreciated. Thank you so much for your support and kindness.
