Support Jake's Remarkable Recovery Journey

Donation protected
Jake was in a horrific side by side ATV accident while taking an impromptu trip to Southern Oregon to visit my family. A tree was not properly cut down out of the road, hooked on to the roll bar and lacerated his neck. This caused him to lose control of the vehicle and we rolled off the road. My cousin, her boyfriend, and myself had to rescue Jake out of the ATV, get it flipped over, and get Jake loaded back in. Jake was in and out of consciousness and had to be taken 18 miles down the mountain before he was met with any EMT’s. They took him to the grants pass hospital where he was air lifted to Eugene. Jake spent almost 3 weeks sedated in the ICU in Eugene for his initial injuries of a broken arm, broken jaw, broken ribs, and a neck laceration that included his carotid artery. He suffered through many subsequent medical complications such as a stroke and a heart attack. Since they took the breathing tube out Jake has been making a tremendous recovery. They initially anticipated his outpatient rehabilitation stay to last 4 weeks, Jake came home last Tuesday after 1 week and 6 days in their unit. Less than a month ago Jake was completely paralyzed on his right side, today Jake is walking around and even went into the woods to shoot his gun left handed (he is a still a phenomenal shot if anyone was wondering). Jake has had a positive attitude throughout this entire recovery and is working hard every day to regain his strength.

Now that Jake is home, his medical bills have been coming in. He will be starting outpatient physical therapy on October 10th and has many medical appointments each week. The day he was discharged from the hospital his insurance lapsed, the replacement insurance does not provide the same level of coverage. Jake is currently on a leave of absence from work and is focusing on his rehabilitation and recovery. Anything donated is much appreciated, the Esqueda family has been incredibly helpful and generous but Jake’s treatments and medical leave from work will be ongoing for the next few months and we will be needing some extra help. Thank you to everyone who has prayed for Jake and asked about how he is doing. His tribe is large and everyone’s presence has been felt during this time. I can't say it enough, thank you to everyone.
