Support Jake's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
On Saturday, August 24th, my 30-year-old brother Jake suffered a life changing injury while diving into the ocean in Orange County, CA. Thanks to the Laguna Beach life guards, a brilliant neurosurgeon, and the caring nurses and doctors at Mission Hospital, Jake has survived his injuries, which included drowning, cardiac arrest, a broken neck, and severe spinal cord damage.
Jake remains in the intensive care unit post-surgery. Following his hospital discharge he will be transferred to an acute care facility to gain some of his health and strength back before a lengthy rehabilitation road at another specialized facility. We still do not know the extent of his paralysis.
What we do know is that Jake is young, healthy, strong and while this will be a long road, he has shown he's up for the fight and extremely determined. We intend to provide him with all of the rehabilitative and living support we can to put him in the best possible position to improve his mobility and what will be a new normal for him. My mom will be taking a leave of absence from teaching to care for Jake full-time.
We are looking to raise $100,000 to help fund his rehabilitative care, long-term care, and other necessities to make him as comfortable as possible during recovery.
For all those who have reached out with prayers and support, we can’t thank you enough. Jake has so many loved ones and friends in his corner and we are overwhelmed with gratitude.
