Jake DeNucci is a vibrant 23-year-old who was diagnosed with Desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT) in September 2025. DSRCT is a rare, aggressive cancer that typically affects young men, often starting in the abdomen. Jake’s journey began with back pain that made eating and sleeping difficult, and the diagnosis has brought immense challenges for him and his family. Despite the poor prognosis and the aggressive nature of this cancer, Jake’s strength and determination shine through every day. He is passionate about sports—if there’s a stadium nearby, Jake is sure to visit and check it off his bucket list. Just before starting chemotherapy, Jake and his biggest fan, his mom Teresa, made unforgettable memories at a Brewers Playoff game. The joy on Jake’s face and the happiness in his mom’s heart are moments they will cherish forever.

Jake has already endured two rounds of chemotherapy. The first was a single-day treatment that went relatively well, but the second round was much tougher. Over five days, Jake experienced severe side effects, including multiple days of vomiting and the need for daily IV infusions. His immune system was severely weakened, leading to a medical emergency and a six-day stay in the ICU. Thankfully, Jake was discharged on Thanksgiving Day, but the journey is far from over. He continues to receive IV antibiotics at home and plans to resume chemotherapy after the holidays. Since his diagnosis, both Jake and his mom have been unable to work, adding financial stress to an already difficult situation.
