Hi everyone, this is Travonda.

I don’t usually share my personal business, but I’m reaching out because my daughter Jakeria needs help, and I can’t do this alone.

As many of you know, Jakeria is a very sweet young lady with a kind heart. Anyone who knows her knows how loving she is. Watching her go through what she’s going through has been heartbreaking. Jakeria has been diagnosed with PNES (Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures). These are seizure episodes that happen repeatedly, but they are not caused by epilepsy. She has seizures every single day, sometimes multiple times a day. We have been to several doctors and have been in and out of the hospital trying to get answers.

Right now, the only treatment doctors keep telling us is CBT therapy, which she has been doing twice a week. Unfortunately, we have seen no improvement. Her independence is slipping away, and the stress and fear she feels every day is something no 20-year-old should have to endure. She just wants to feel normal again. Because of her condition and the severity of her daily seizures, I had to take a leave of absence from work to take care of her — and unfortunately, it is unpaid. This has put us in a very stressful financial situation at a time when Jakeria needs more support than ever.

I am asking for help so that I can take care of Jakeria at home and possibly find other specialists who may be able to give us better answers, better treatment options, and hopefully some real relief for her. We just want a chance to get her the care she deserves.

I know the holidays are coming up, and it’s a hard time for everyone, but anything would help, and we would be so grateful.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, prayed for us, and loved Jakeria. She deserves better than what she’s been handed, and as her mom, I’m going to do everything I can to help her get there.
