Support Jake's Recovery - Bilateral Amputation
Donation protected
On January 20th my brother Jacob was involved in a bonfire accident resulting in severe burns on over 50% of his body. Jacob spent the week fighting for his life at Rhode Island Hospital. Thanks to the endless effort and skill of Rhode Island Hospitals trauma team Jacob was able to keep his life, but lost both legs above the knee.
For those of you who are familiar with Jacob, you may know that his path has not always been an easy one. He has faced adversity in all aspects of his life. Jacob has been strong through countless procedures to heal the rest of his body and has spent much time reflecting on his life and the dedication he will have to give to get back up and embrace his life as a double amputee. As his time in inpatient programs comes to an end we are faced with the reality that Jacob has no financial support or place to go once he is released in our home state of Massachusetts.
Jacob and I have endured many challenges in life together, and I refuse to let this be the time our brotherly bond fails. I am asking for your help to get him to Portland, ME so that I can be a part of his recovery and encourage healing not only his wounds, but his spirit. The funds raised will go towards the cost of moving Jake to Maine, medical costs, prosthetics, accessibility modifications, and making sure Jacob can remain focused on his recovery.
I am confident that with the right level of support and stability Jacob can use this as a catalyst for a better life where he can start over and rebuild. I am deeply saddened by this event but also remain hopeful that in time Jacob can learn to live happily and independently. Any support or help in terms of sharing this page is greatly appreciated.
