As many of you may know already, on Sunday morning at Tethered Together this year, our longtime Ropenspace Facilitator, Presenter and friend Jake Wing experienced a medical emergency and hospital visit due to severe pain. While he focuses on treatment and recovery, he is now facing overwhelming medical expenses. We are asking for help so that he can focus on recovery without financial hardship. Jake was hesitant to go to the hospital because of the high costs associated with medical care in our country and is also a person who never complains about anything so we knew we needed to get him help right away. We called 911 to start the process because we couldn’t take a chance with the life of a dear friend. He was transported to the hospital and luckily they were able to assist him quickly though even morphine did not take the edge off of his pain. The culprit was a 5mm kidney stone. He is now feeling better and on the way to recovery while unexpectedly saddled with a large hospital bill and an ambulance bill pending.
Jake is a person who has spent his life helping others and living with quiet generosity. He has shown up for us time and time again to do whatever is needed. He teaches when we need him to teach. He does the Ropenspace because nobody holds space for the new ideas of others quite like he does. He has been involved in the Austin Ropeslingers helping others learn the joys of what we do longer than most of us have been doing it and he has experienced losses far beyond what any person should have to cope with already in the last few years.
Now he needs a little help from his community to get through this difficult time. He didn’t ask us to do this because he wouldn’t ever do that. We are asking because he should not have to face this alone. Can you help us help Jake? No matter how small, every little bit helps us to make this less of a financial burden for him.
The amount we are seeking should exactly cover hospital and ambulance bills.
