Jake Brown touched countless lives in our community, dedicating his entire adult life to coaching, teaching, and mentoring young people. Whether it was a weekday or weekend, rain or shine, Jake could always be found giving back. He wore many hats for our community—coach, teacher, counselor, leader, problem solver, role model, and disciplinarian. For adults who were lucky enough to call him friend or peer, Jake was sweet, kind, empathetic, pure, caring, and the funniest person in any room. He was so full of life and never sought acknowledgment for his selfless acts. Jake quietly did what we need most in our community, helping countless kids navigate their way to young adulthood.
To his family, Jake was a husband, dog dad, grandson, son, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and the best uncle on earth. When Jake’s own father died far too early, he was an unwavering rock for his family through the saddest of times. The same can be said when his father-in-law passed away—Jake always showed up with love, good energy, and lots of laughs, despite dealing with so much in his young life. His relationship with each member of his family was special and unique. Jake was the idol to his sister Mikaela's three children, a constant presence in their lives, and the best friend to his wife Lauren. His loss is immeasurable, and the void he leaves behind is vast.
Jake passed away this past weekend in an accident, leaving Lauren widowed, his sister, nephews, niece, mom, family and friends heartbroken. This fundraiser is being set up to support Lauren and to help with the education of Mikaela’s children, ensuring that Jake’s legacy of love and support continues. Any contribution will help his family navigate this difficult time and honor the memory of a man who always showed up for others. If you knew Jake you know he was all about “heart”. The link included below is twenty seconds of Jake doing what he did best, inspiring us all with his big heart.
