Support Jake as He Battles a Brain Tumor

This fundraiser is to help a dear friend, Dana Fogle and her son, Jacob, who is a volleyball teammate on 417 Boys Volleyball, a team manager for Nixa High School Girls Volleyball, player on the Nixa Boys Volleyball team and an employee at 14 Mill Market in Nixa.

Jake, as he’s known by his volleyball family, is an energetic 16 year who has an unknown battle ahead of him. On Friday, October 6th, Jake was in a car accident caused by a seizure. At the hospital, during a post accident routine scan, doctors noticed a spot on his brain. Additional testing confirmed a tumor the size of a golf ball and within hours Jake was in a helicopter to St. Louis Children’s Hospital connected to Barnes Jewish Hospital. His mom, Dana and Grandma Lee, drove up to be with him where he has continued to undergo testing. Mom feels confident and blessed with their neurosurgeon, neuro oncologist and the plan they have moving forward.

Jake will come home for a few days then report back to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis early next week for a procedure to map the brain which will be followed by brain surgery to remove the tumor. A biopsy will be done at the same time to determine if the tumor is benign or malignant.

Recovery, in and of itself, from surgery will take months and will include physical and emotional challenges for Jake and his sweet mom. Depending on how the biopsy comes back, the recovery and treatment period could be extended.

We have found ourselves praising God for a seizure and the car accident — how else would this tumor have been found and treated? God protected him in the accident and is allowing for the proper medical team to be put in place for Jake to fight this battle.

In faith, we ask for big bold prayers that this tumor is benign. We ask for praise to God for the events that led to its discovery and for protecting Jake from other physical harm in the car accident. We ask God to give strength to Jacob for a full recovery as he physically recovers from surgery, as well as, emotional perseverance to be on the sideline of volleyball games — a sport he loves and excels at. We pray for the endurance of emotional, mental and physical strength for Jacob’s mom, Dana and Grandma Lee as they look to support him during his recovery in all ways possible.

In addition to prayers, if you are able to bless their family by donating to this fund, all proceeds will help cover medical expenses, travel/lodging to/from St. Louis, lost wages due to Dana’s time away from work, and food and care at home —any amount will be a huge help! Jacob, Dana and Grandma Lee are a small but mighty family who could use blessings via way of prayer and donations!
