In October 2025 we had a scare when Jake ended up in the hospital for 17 days. What started as high blood pressure and nausea turned into acute kidney failure. He has undergone months of dialysis treatments and in January was put on the list for a kidney transplant.

We just got the news that Emma is a match for Jake for kidney donation! This means that she will head down here from Philly on March 4th to do more formal testing.

Several of you have asked me how you can help us during this time and I said I'd let you know. For both rounds of testing Emma has had to fly down and back from Philadelphia. The Level 2 OT rotations that she has done in Georgia and Philly are full time, but not compensated, and Jake is not working much. (Dialysis is 4 hours a day, 4x per week and tires him out.) The cost of the flights and the medical costs with little to no income is putting a financial strain on them. So this GoFundMe is how you can help at this time. We appreciate anything you can do to help.
