On Thursday, July 23rd, my son Jairon Foster (age 24) was seriously injured in a devastating three-car collision in Lubbock, Texas, that cost the lives of three people and injured four others. Shortly after the car in front of him moved out of the way, a wrong-way driver traveling 80–90 mph on I-27 hit Jairon's vehicle head-on, leaving him with no time to react. The impact tragically took the life of his passenger—his good friend's mom, Lakecha Collins—and left Jairon with severe injuries requiring major surgery, reconstruction, and extensive rehabilitation.

The wrong-way driver also struck another vehicle, causing it to catch fire and leaving two young women with life-threatening injuries. Alcohol was involved; the driver of the wrong-way vehicle lost his life, took the life of a child passenger, and critically injured another child in his car.

The Long Road Ahead

Jairon faces a long road to recovery, both physically and emotionally. He will have to work hard toward being able to walk again and eventually returning to work. He has a job he loves that requires peak physical condition and heavy climbing, so it is currently unknown when he will be able to return.

While unable to work during his recovery, Jairon is facing mounting medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and everyday living expenses.
