Yesterday, Colombia was shaken by a devastating earthquake that affected communities across the country.

A member of my girlfriend’s family lives in this region, and his family was deeply impacted.

Earlier this year, he lost his mother. After her passing, he inherited the family home—a place filled with memories, family history, and a deep connection to the life his mother had built.

Since then, he has done everything he could to care for the property and maintain the home she left behind. It was more than just a house. It was part of his family’s history and a piece of his mother’s legacy.

Yesterday, the earthquake destroyed his home, leaving him and his family without a place to live and forcing them to sleep in tents.

After already experiencing the loss of his mother earlier this year, he is now facing the loss of the home she left behind and the place he had worked so hard to preserve.

We are asking for your help to give him an opportunity to recover and begin rebuilding.

The funds raised will help with the immediate needs following the earthquake and go toward the materials, labor, and resources needed to rebuild his home. Every contribution, no matter how large or small, can make a meaningful difference in helping him begin this process.

We know he is not the only person affected. Families throughout Colombia are facing loss, uncertainty, and the difficult task of rebuilding their lives after this disaster. Ayer, Colombia fue sacudida por un devastador terremoto que afectó a comunidades en diferentes partes del país, incluyendo la región del Eje Cafetero.

Un familiar de mi novia vive en esta región y su familia fue profundamente afectada. Su historia es una de las que sentimos que debemos compartir.

A principios de este año, perdió a su mamá. Después de su fallecimiento, heredó la finca familiar, un lugar lleno de recuerdos, historia y una profunda conexión con la vida que ella construyó.

Él hizo todo lo posible por cuidar la propiedad y mantener en pie el hogar que ella dejó. Era mucho más que una casa. Era parte de la historia de su familia y un pedazo del legado de su mamá.

Ayer, el terremoto destruyó su hogar, dejándolo a él y a su familia sin un lugar donde vivir y obligándolos a dormir en carpas.

Después de enfrentar la pérdida de su mamá a principios de este año, ahora también tiene que enfrentar la pérdida del hogar que ella le dejó y que él había trabajado tanto por conservar.

Por eso, estamos pidiendo su ayuda para darle la oportunidad de recuperarse y comenzar a reconstruir.

Los fondos recaudados ayudarán con las necesidades inmediatas después del terremoto y serán destinados a los materiales, la mano de obra y los recursos necesarios para reconstruir su hogar. Cada aporte, sin importar el monto, puede hacer una diferencia significativa y ayudarlo a dar los primeros pasos hacia la reconstrucción.

Sabemos que él no es la única persona afectada. Familias en diferentes partes de Colombia están enfrentando pérdidas, incertidumbre y la difícil tarea de reconstruir sus vidas después de este desastre. Compartimos su historia porque queremos darle a nuestra familia, amigos y comunidad una manera concreta de ayudar a alguien que fue directamente afectado.
